Shui
Razor
Shui Razor became world famous as the man who saved the $Billion
dollar whale's (Kulo Luna) calf, 'Kuna.' Shui was also the winner of
$1 one million dollars by betting on Kulo
Luna to survive being chased by illegal whalers. When the giant female
humpback whale sank, Jonah, her second whaling boat. So enraged was she at
the sight of another whaler, in such close proximity to her newborn calf.
At
first, Shui was seen as an adversary by John Storm, but his true character
came through once the baby whale, Kuna, got into trouble, caught in ghost
fishing nets. At that point, even Kulo Luna changed her mind about the
tough guy from Nagasaki.
Shui
was a fisherman and prize (street) fighter. He was a whaler
for a short time as part of his real life research experiences, not liking
that at all. But he needed the money and to understand the trade. Though
making enemies of one of the whaling cartel in the process, including his
former friend and street rival; Stang
Lee.
Shui's
real interests lay in ocean management as a world food store, and provider of
myriad blue
growth opportunities to keep sushi bars supplied with non-toxic fish and
Japan's pescatarian
community in good health. He became an oceanographer and conservationist,
acutely aware that Japan is reliant on imported energy. He offered his
skills as a captain to various blue
growth projects. Most especially those looking at
alternative ocean foods by way of security for hungry mouths, and others
dealing with plastic and seaweed pollution.
He
loves the Elizabeth
Swann, because it is solar and hydrogen powered. Shui believes that all
new vessels
should be zero carbon like John Storms trusty ship. But, perhaps not have
such a cheeky AI computer onboard.
Shui Razor is a fictional character in the John Storm 'inner-space' adventure
series. He is one of the mainstay supporting characters in this Treasure Island story.
Only gold,
silver and gemstones were worth anything to captains of old. The currency
was easy to trade and did not corrode, so ideal to be secreted in the most
inhospitable environments. Paper money is worthless, when the value can rise
and fall, without anything tangible to back the promises written thereon. In
the modern world, with rampant inflation and cost of living crises, we'd
have to agree with the pirates.
