UNESCO & THE BLUE SHIELD - T-ISLAND SCREENPLAY
UNESCO and Blue Shield work together to protect heritage sites from looters, under the tenets of the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in Armed Conflict 1954.
Head office; The Blue Shield, Newcastle University, England, Dr Roberta Treadstone, antiquities expert, is on a video link with UNESCO's Professor Jacques Pierre Daccord, of the Oceanographic Commission, Marine Sunken remains division, 7 Place de Fontenoym Paris, France.
"Yes, can we persuade John Storm to help us out again?"
The Blue Shield operative responded. "Not entirely sure. I heard some kind of Mexican standoff. But we need his ship on this one. He's familiar with the Caribbean, Jamaica, and what with the military tensions between Brazil and Cuba .... frankly, who else is there?"
Roberta duly obliged, "Oh, Professor, it's hydrogen powered. Can you imagine that. Oh, and solar. And then there's the most advanced underwater array of instruments, to make your mouth water. And then ... then, Hal, the onboard AI. And then ..."
"No, Jacques, don't forget the Swann can become invisible to radar."
"For sure zat ees toffee, mademoiselle! Challenged the professor"
"Oui, said Roberta," sarcastically effecting a French accent.
"Can you lean on him via his friend Charley?"
"No other way, as I see it. He's a sucker for Charley. But actually, she just needs to appeal to his love of archaeology."
"We are particularly keen to secure the Palisadoes Cemetery, and Governor Morgan's internment."
"Really? I'd have thought that not so important."
"It's Interpol again. ....." But won't say why ...
John Storm is persuaded by Charley Temple and Doctor Roberta Treadstone to proceed to Jamaica urgently, requested by UNESCO, to catalogue the archaeological remains of the underwater city, Port Royal, using the Elizabeth Swann's ultra modern array of subsea survey sensors, worried that another quake threatens to wipe out all records. They plan to make the submerged city a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Dr. Treadstone is aware of his expertise as a diver and archaeological knowledge, but cannot figure out how he manages to come out of some of his escapades unharmed. Which is why Blue Shield call on the ocean adventurer from time to time.
Damn you for Villains, who are you? And, from whence came you? The Lieutenant made him Answer, You may see by our Colours we are no Pyrates. Upon this, Black-beard took a Glass of Liquor and drank to him with these Words: Damnation seize my Soul if I give you Quarters, or take any from you.
